Uganda is an equatorial arena experiencing both Central Africa moist tropical climates and the East African dry ocean winds.
The country is located on the equator with higher elevation which makes the weather in Uganda very pleasant throughout the year, compared to the rest of the countries in the region.
Uganda is an equatorial arena, and experiences 2 variations of weather conditions throughout the year. The variations are prompted from region to another, where the western region is more wet, central and eastern are moderate and the northern in drier than the rest of the region.
Third of Uganda’s total coverage experiences the tropical weather which are the central, eastern and the western. The greater northern and northeastern experience the semi-arid climate with prolonged dry/sunny weather.
Greatly, the climate of Uganda is influenced by altitudes and a larger part of occupied by plateau which crosses from the northern taking a greatest portion of the eastern and the central region. The altitude of Uganda ranges from 621m at the Albert Nile to 5,109m at the Margherita peak of Mt. Rwenzori.
Uganda on average experiences a warm weather with temperatures ranging the 25–29°C (77–84°F). The hottest weather is experienced in the months December to February and the evenings can be chilly with temperatures ranging from 17–18°C (63–64°F). The temperature variations are relatively little throughout the year as northern experiences the warmest session of December to February to about 290C, and sometimes goes to 30°C. The southwestern Kigezi region experiences the coldest getting to about 170C.
There are concurrently two weather seasons a year, and here the country receives rainfall of average 900 to 1500mm. The Wet/rainy season comes twice a year between the months of March to May and September to November. And the dry/sunny seasons run from December to February and June to August.
Uganda is blessed with good weather conditions which are relatively facilitative towards the daily undertakings in the country economic function. Right from the coolest highlands of the Kigezi in southwestern to the warmest northern of Kabongo areas plateaus, the climate is conducive for all year business, agriculture, industry, and tourism.
Experiencing the equatorial weather conditions annually, the chances of watching sun rising and setting is 99.9% daily, the sky is always relatively cloudy or blue sky respectively. During rainy/dry weathers Uganda is bathed with the shining sun and temperatures that rarely rise over 29 degrees Celsius. With an average temperature of about 26 Degrees Celsius, very few places (due to high altitude) can become colder than 15 degrees Celsius.
The average rainfall varies from place to place because of the local geography. Rainfall ranges between 500mm to 2500mm, with a relative humidity range of 70 -100%.
