Travelers using Entebbe International Airport are set to double their parking payments for parking their vehicles at the Entebbe airport parking lounge. The start of the parking fee is 5000 USD for the first hour of parking.
Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) is intentionally raised the parking fee at Entebbe International Airport with effect from 1st November, 2024, all travelers at the Airport are needed to meet the revised parking rates. UCAA’s move is aimed at supporting the ongoing investment in upgrading airport facilities for a better passenger experience.
The revised parking rates are doubling previously paid rates, which were also revised in 2009. On the newly revised parking structure, saloon cars and station wagons will be charged Shs 5,000 for the first hour, from Shs 2,000, vans and minibuses will be charged Shs 8,000 from Shs 4,000. Larger vehicles like Lorries, trailers, trucks, and buses, will have a starting charge of Shs 10,000 from Shs 5,000.
The every additional hour from the first hour is each hour charged 1,000 shillings. According to Luggya, Public Affairs Manager, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, emphasized on the need for the revisions to support infrastructure upgrades. “The new parking fees are part of our broader efforts to enhance the passenger experience by improving facilities. The rates have remained unchanged for over a decade, and these adjustments are crucial for us to keep pace with the growth in passenger numbers and operational demands,” said Luggya.
According to the officials, the revisions will help the Airport to continue provide high-quality service meeting the growing needs of both passengers and visitors.
Most of 4×4 car rentals begins from Entebbe international airport. Majority of the travelers prefer to have the cars delivered to them at the airport. With the changes in the parking fees, it means that any delay in the arrivals or clearance at the customs will attract extra parking fees. Therefore you might have to budget for $3 to $5 in parking fees during your Uganda safari.
